Paul Sucherman

Biography

Paul Sucherman is a renowned jazz pianist and music director who has many friends in Sheboygan. Growing up in a musical family, he recalls climbing up on the piano bench at a young age and forming complex melodies and harmonies. He officially started piano lessons at age three and a half.

He also played drums, but he jokes that he is the worst drummer in his family, because his two younger brothers are extremely skilled at drumming. Both of his brothers are professional musicians. His brother Todd played drums with the band Styx. His brother Joel plays bass. Paul loves to play rock bass.

Paul studied piano with George Rosenberg and Bob Acri. He attended DePaul University and then pursued his interests in theater direction, music composition, and music arrangement.

He has shared the stage with legendary performers such as Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie, Reba McIntyre, Tim Allen, Eddie Rabbitt, and more. Paul has performed around the world and hosted the Home State Ball for President Obama’s first Inaugural ceremony.

Paul is currently the Lakeshore Big Band Conductor and Music Director. He is an Associate Lecturer of Music at the UW-Green Bay, Sheboygan campus. He continues to share his talents with an audience on many days of the week, including musical performances with Gregg Edelman and Sandy Hackett in the Rat Pack Show.

When Paul isn’t busy with jazz, he is the Musical director for the Sheboygan Theater for Young Audiences.
